On 13th October 2025, a powerful explosion shook the Egyptian capital, Cairo, shattering windows kilometers away from the explosion site. Distant observers assumed the thick smoke to be the dust of a nearby construction site, while reports claim new explosions occured in the areas: Al-Tagamoa, Al-Rahab, Madinaty, Badr and Al-Shorouk. Upon being investigated, the explosion site ended up being a military base which lies on 30.1374 N, 31.5176 E. Prior to the explosion, peace talks were to happen in Cairo regarding the ceasefire in the Gaza strip.

Near the military base are also government buildings and public buildings, no reports of injuries as of 14th October 2025.

Egyptian news outlets have attempted to cover up the incident claiming the thick smoke was from the construction site, while bystanders heard the sound of the explosion and videos show flames rising from the blast site.
